Information on Phoronis buskii is limited to the original description of McIntosh (1881, 1888). According to those descriptions, the charateristics are similar to those of P. australis. Furthermore there is no certainty that the specimens of P. buskii were living in a sandy bottom, because dregging over cerianthids may collect anterior parts of phoronid specimens (unpublished data).

Phoronis bhadurii has been too poorly described to define a new species. The studied specimens may belong to P. australis or perhaps to the genus Phoronopsis as for example a young Phoronopsis californica. Finally, no specimens has been obtained from the Museum, on the contrary with the "ICZN" rules to allow an identification of the spécimens referred to Phoronis bhadurii.

Nota : One can argue that to describe a new species needs to have a perfect knowledge of the taxon to which the new species is referred (see examples among the Phoronida, i.e. P. ijimai, P. psammophila, Phoronopsis harmeri)
